Former Secretary of State and 2013 PLUS International Conference speaker Madeleine Albright made news recently at the Aspen Institute. She stated:
“I think what we’re seeing in the Middle East, generally, is the biggest change in our lifetimes. Probably bigger than the end of communism.” …”I do not believe that the United States is a declining power; let me just say that flat out. But what that requires is to cooperate with other countries. Americans don’t like the word ‘multilateralism’ — it has too many syllables and ends in an ‘ism.’ But what it means is partnerships, and I think that what needs to be developed is a more international approach to the Middle East.”
Hat tip to The Atlantic for their coverage of Ms. Albright’s speech.
