The Travis County Center for Child Protection’s 2017 Caring for Kids Banquet presented by Lexus of Austin and Lexus of Lakeway  occurred Thursday night, April 27. Guests had the opportunity to rub shoulders with NFL Alumni legends while raising funds and awareness for child abuse victims. The PLUS Foundation was honored to be able to present the center’s Executive Director, Michael Torres, with a check for $1,000 at the event. The Caring for Kids Banquet opens the center’s annual NFL Alumni Golf Classic, which the Texas PLUS Chapter chose as one of their 2017 volunteer initiatives.

On Friday, April 28, four-person teams, each captained by a former NFL player, competed in a scramble style tournament at The Hills of Lakeway. PLUS Foundation volunteers aided the center’s staff in running the tournament. Robby Moore and Whitney Tabash from the PLUS Texas Chapter spent the afternoon running Hole 7, where golfers took their shot at a hole-in-one in hopes of winning a brand-new Lexus RX-350. Unfortunately, the wind picked up and the players were lucky to get a ball on the green. All proceeds from Friday benefit the children and families that the center serves in Travis County (Austin area).
