An Allied Health practitioner who has prescriptive, diagnostic, or simple practice authority without being subject to a physician’s supervision can engage in a truly independent practice; that might be as a sole practitioner, an independent contractor to one or more providers, groups, or systems, in a group setting with similarly situated professionals, or operating their own business.
