Bailey Cavalieri

Elan represents insurance companies with respect to all aspects of claims involving directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, professional liability and commercial general liability policies. Before joining Bailey Cavalieri, Elan was a member in the insurance department of a large international law firm. Elan received his law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Elan graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

James focuses his practice on directors and officers liability insurance, professional liability insurance, and coverage litigation. He serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for insurance companies that provide primary and excess coverage to a broad spectrum of policyholders, including public and private companies, investment funds, and municipalities. James is proactive and strategic in advancing his clients’ interests, and he enjoys positioning the carriers he represents to achieve the optimal outcome in any given scenario.

In addition to his coverage work, James assists insurance carriers with regulatory and corporate matters, including licensure issues, product regulation, and M&A deals. In all aspects of his practice, James is committed to providing his clients with the most effective counsel and representation for their legal needs.

Anne handles public company D&O claims, including high exposure securities class actions, as well as private company management liability claims, including employment practices and D&O claims. Prior to joining Bowhead, Anne was a Director and Senior Counsel of Complex Claims at Markel Services, Inc. While at Markel, Anne handled a variety of public company D&O claims and private company management liability claims.

Prior to joining Markel, Anne was a partner at Jenner & Block in Chicago, where she was a member of the Litigation Department and the Professional Responsibility Practice Group. She defended legal malpractice claims and regularly spoke on a variety of issues related to professional responsibility, ethics, and conflicts. Anne had an active pro bono practice at Jenner & Block, focusing on trial and appellate level criminal defense in both federal and state court.

Anne is a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility, a volunteer with the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice, previously chaired the Chicago Bar Association Professional Responsibility Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Children’s Theatre.

Matthew Schweiger, AVEP Claims – D&O

Matthew Schweiger has been the AVP of D&O claims at Core Specialty since January 2022. In that role, he oversees claims under public company and private company D&O policies, including employment practices liability and fiduciary liability claims. Matthew has been a claim professional in the management liability area since 2017. Before 2017, he was a practicing attorney representing insurers in professional liability matters with a focus on public and private D&O. Matthew’s experience as an attorney also included representing insurers in matters involving cyber liability, toxic tort and environmental liability, construction injuries and defects, non-profit liability, and personal lines liability, among others.
