Hartford Chapter Supports My Sister’s Place with Diaper Drive

We’d like to send a special thank you out to the Hartford Chapter, who recently held their annual Diaper Drive in support of My Sister’s Place. The Diaper Drive took place on March 21 and 29, and the Chapter was able to collect over 25,000 diapers!

My Sister’s Place is a local shelter and support organization for families who are homeless due to domestic violence, eviction, or unemployment, and serves approximately 1,200 people each year through its multiple programs. The diapers collected by this drive will go to help families in need throughout the area. On average, about 5,000-6,000 diapers are used monthly, and this drive accounts for almost half of their yearly need. Importantly, public assistance vouchers can only be used for food and not diapers or other necessities, so donating diapers is the equivalent of handing money directly to those in need.

The committee was able to secure donations from several key corporate sites including XL, Travelers, Willis Towers Watson, Insurity, AIX, Raymond Law Group, LLC, and Hanover. They hope to do even better next year!

Thank you to the Hartford Chapter for their wonderful effort in support of a good cause!

2017 Hartford Chapter Diaper Drive

The PLUS Hartford chapter held its annual Diaper Drive, benefiting My Sister’s Place, on March 23. The chapter collected a total of 21,247 diapers and 3,156 wipes for the organization, which provides a safe and nurturing environment for homeless families. In addition to the diapers and wipes, the chapter also collected $80 in unsolicited donations for the charity!

Please note special thanks to the following people who helped either pick-up or load product in and out of cars/trucks.

Hartford Chapter Diaper Drive a Big Success

To all of the PLUS Hartford Community:

I want to express my deepest gratitude for contributing and making this Diaper Drive a success. The overwhelming generosity from our insurance community was evidenced by the support you have had for this cause. Through our individual contributions in our annual March Madness Event and bulk donations collected throughout the area today we have surpassed everyone’s expectations.

The diapers that everyone unselfishly donated were able to fill three truckloads and we are not done yet.  Many of you have asked what the final tally was and to be very honest I could not count them all.  All the diapers are being brought to My Sister’s Place and I will share the totals when they have the final count.  I estimate it at being close to 15,000 diapers!!

In addition to the diapers, PLUS Foundation has also provided a grant for $2500 to My Sister’s Place for the second year in a row.

I will continue to update you on our success as well as future opportunities as they arise. In September, we are having a participation day event at a The Hole in the Wall Camp and our annual golf tournament where the funds donated directly support the PLUS Foundation.  Please check the PLUS website and our LinkedIn profile page for updates.

There are too many names to thank in this email without the fear of leaving some names off so please spread the thanks to everyone involved.
